The Blood of Lathander is one of the most sought-after legendary weapons available during the early chapters of Baldur's Gate 3. Hidden deep within the Rosymorn Monastery and the underlying Githyanki Creche, obtaining this holy mace requires completing a series of environmental puzzles and navigating deadly defense traps. Players who take the time to retrieve it gain a massive advantage in combat, particularly against undead foes and shadowy creatures in later acts.
Finding the Rosymorn Monastery and Stained Glass Puzzle
Your journey begins in the Mountain Pass region, where you must navigate up to the central ruins of the Rosymorn Monastery. On the upper floor of the monastery, you will encounter a room featuring a intricate stained glass window on the floor surrounded by four altars. One altar holds a Ceremonial Longsword, while the remaining three require specific weapons to unlock the secret pouch.
To solve this initial puzzle, players must collect a Ceremonial Warhammer from an eagle nest on the roof, a Ceremonial Battleaxe guarded by a Guardian of Faith, and a Rusty Mace found in the lower ruins. Placing each item on its corresponding altar unlocks a hidden compartment containing the Dawnmaster's Crest. Acquiring this crest is crucial, as it serves as the key to safely retrieving the legendary mace without triggering the automated self-destruct sequence.
Descending into the Githyanki Creche Secret Chamber
After securing the crest, travel down into the basement level to enter Creche Y'llek inside the monastery. Progress through the main storyline inside the creche until you gain access to the Inquisitor's Chamber at the far end. In a side alcove, you will find two large stone statues that must be rotated to reveal the hidden entrance to the secret chamber.
Turn the eastern statue to face east toward the sunrise, and rotate the western statue to face west toward the sunset. If a statue is stuck, throwing a bottle of grease or applying forced movement will allow it to turn freely. Revealing this hidden doorway opens the direct path toward the inner vault holding the relic.
Bypassing Energy Barriers and Securing the Mace
The final corridor is heavily trapped with energy barriers and forcefield emitters that must be destroyed or disarmed to proceed safely. Range attacks or spells like Magic Missile can be used to destroy the blue energy crystals powering each barrier. Moving carefully through the corridor allows your party to reach the central pedestal unharmed.
Once at the central altar, interact with the mechanism and place the Dawnmaster's Crest inside the slot before pulling the Blood of Lathander. Inserting the key deactivates the emergency defense system and grants you full possession of the legendary mace. Equipping this weapon provides powerful radiant light and high-level healing spells for your party's journey forward.
